Bedrock Robotics nears $1B in total funding as demand for autonomous heavy…

NVIDIA Corp. — bedrock Robotics automates large excavators to improve construction site economics. | 1 billion valuation.

The round brings its total funding to nearly $1 billion as it scales fully autonomous heavy equipment to address nationwide construction labor shortages. The round included new investors US Innovative Technology Fund (USIT), Bessemer Venture Partners, and Temasek, alongside existing investors 8VC, Georgian, Valor Equity Partners, Xora, Eclipse, Perry Creek Capital, NVIDIA, and others. Bedrock said this will accelerate the deployment of Bedrock-equipped machines across commercial construction sites across the U.S., helping contractors use existing heavy equipment more safely, predictably, and at greater capacity. The new capital follows a rapid commercial expansion beyond the company’s initial footprint in the West and Central South into the Midwest and South Atlantic. Anchored by a major partnership with Southwest contractor Haydon to automate earthwork in Texas, Bedrock has added regional partners across Minnesota, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, and Virginia—pushing its autonomous retrofits onto live job sites spanning data centers, healthcare facilities, and heavy civil infrastructure. “We have proven that fully autonomous excavators can perform real work of value alongside the crews and workflows already in place on job sites,” said Boris Sofman, co-founder and CEO of Bedrock Robotics. “The next challenge is delivering that capability to more contractors as a dependable part of how projects get built.” “This funding allows us to expand deployments, strengthen the field operations behind every machine, and work with more partners as they integrate intelligent systems into everyday work,” he added. “The opportunity is to help the industry’s experienced crews safely take on more projects, deliver with greater consistency, and quickly deliver more of the infrastructure this country needs.” Sofman told The Robot Report, “New customer demand is very high. We’re responsibly growing into the demand, bringing on new customers we can serve alongside our longtime design partners. We’re scaling across the board, from operations to hardware to supply chain operations, to keep pace with the needs of our customers.” Bedrock Robotics adds leadership In the midst of securing new funding, the company also added two new individuals to the management team. Amy Jones Satrom joins the leadership team as vice president of operations. She brings operations experience from Amazon, Nuro, and Uber to lead the company in the next phase of scaling to meet demand. “Amy is instrumental in strengthening our operations and building the systems and support that make successful deployments repeatable,” according to Sofman. “She’s still early in her tenure, but her leadership will be central to growing our deployment and production teams and preparing them to support customers across the country. “Ajay Gummalla, a co-founder and VP of engineering, is also intimately involved on the hardware side of things, adding resilience to our supply chain so we’re ready to build the hardware we need to meet customer demand,” he explained.
